Bread & Time for Children
When a child is hungry, it needs something to eat. It's that simple. Actually. But many parents face major challenges in providing for their children for a variety of reasons. Socially or economically difficult family circumstances, stressful shift work or being overwhelmed with parenting - there are many reasons why parents do not provide their children with enough food. The results of the Allensbach study, the IGLU study and other surveys confirm the bitter reality: one in five children comes to school hungry.
Hungry or full?
Lack of concentration, bad grades, social exclusion and fewer opportunities for education are often the sad consequences. But together with many donors, sponsors and friends, brotZeit can do something about it. Before school starts, there is currently a free school breakfast at 350 primary and special schools in Germany. For children. For more educational equality. Committed seniors accompany the children as breakfast helpers, wait for their charges with a strengthening meal in the morning and are understanding contact persons. That's what brotZeit does.

How it all began in 2009
After Uschi Glas learned of the shocking fact that many children in Germany are not adequately fed at home, she put her conviction that no child in Germany should go to school hungry into action: brotZeit was founded on February 16, 2009. Lidl, as a cooperation partner from the very beginning, donated all the food the children needed. As early as March 3, breakfast buffets were offered at four Munich elementary schools. At first, the food was sent to the schools from the Lidl distribution center, but later brotZeit developed its own delivery logistics.

Support regions of brotZeit
BrotZeit would like to fight hunger among schoolchildren at every school in Germany. That is the goal. The association is currently active in 21 support regions, with more in the planning stages. The brotZeit breakfast is already available at 375 schools and new schools are being included in the project on an ongoing basis. The brotZeit project is a hit!

Long before we founded kunstundstunde, we admired the brotZeit eV association and its impressive commitment to schools and children. The idea of creating this platform arose from my deep desire to offer teachers a space for exchange, networking and mutual inspiration. Over time, the vision of supporting students through our project also developed.
After the first few months had passed and we had gotten a first sense of how our platform was being received, we immediately contacted the team at brotZeit eV. An extensive conversation, full of intensive discussions about visions, ideas and wishes from both sides, brought us to the point that we are now official supporters of brotZeit eV.
For every webinar place booked, we donate 0.50 cents to the association, which now provides over 313 schools across Germany with a healthy breakfast every day. This collaboration fills us with pride and joy, as together we can make a positive contribution to the well-being and future of our children.
